a little bit of background
Academic stuff : BSc (pure mathematics) BA (music composition)
I did a postgrad year in electronics engineering, but left to play in a band and didn't go back to finish.
I was a member of the Midi Association in its early years (yes, that's how old I am).
I was a trainee at the ABC (the Australian version of the BBC).
There I trained in sound engineering for radio, TV, the in house big bands and the state Orchestras.
I was also lucky enough to train for TV in lighting, camera and video editing.
Please don't blame my excellent instructors at the ABC for the quality of the BCR to TQ5 and DW6000 videos on this web site (very old, very rough, no lighting and a vintage camera).
For a few years I worked in theatre as a sound engineer.
With my business partner, I wrote the score to more than 10 documentaries and a TV series, but these days I mainly compose for the theatre.
For a few years I worked as an IT consultant.
After building an aircraft (Vansgrunsven RV6A VH-RRC - now sold) I designed and sold avionics.
Currently I am back shooting and cutting video for a production house working in education as well as some coding for music programs.
